Diego works in the warehouse of an online shop. In this short, slow podcast, made for your level, he tells you his whole day — from five in the morning to ten at night. Listen once without reading. Then listen again with the transcript.
Hello, my name is Diego.
I'm 28 and I work in a warehouse.
It is a big warehouse for an online shop.
We send boxes to people all over the country.
This is my normal day.
I get up at five, yes, five in the morning.
It is hard in winter when it is dark and cold.
I have a fast breakfast and I get to work at 10 to six.
My shift starts at six.
First I put on my helmet and my safety boots,
safety first always.
Then I check my list for the day.
Every morning is the same.
Boxes, boxes, boxes.
In the morning, I scan the new boxes.
Beep, beep, beep, maybe 500 times.
Then I drive the forklift.
I love the forklift.
It is the best part of my job.
At 10, we stop for 15 minutes.
I have a coffee with the team.
We never talk about work in these 15 minutes.
That is our rule and it is a good rule.
After the coffee, we load the trucks.
The boxes are sometimes very heavy, so we work in pairs.
Two people, one box.
The trucks leave at one
and then we clean and check everything.
My shift finishes at two.
I am on my feet all day, so I'm tired,
but the afternoon is free.
I go home, I eat, and I rest a little.
Then two times a week, I go to my English class.
Yes, this is why my English is getting better.
In the evening, I make dinner and watch TV,
but not for long.
I usually fall asleep on the sofa at 10.
Why?
Because I finish work early and because I get up at five.
That is my day.
What is yours?
Thanks for listening.
