ROLEPLAY
The Delicate One-to-One
Delegate a big project, handle the doubts, and leave your team member more motivated than you found them.
🎭 Your scenario. You are a manager.
Jordan, a talented but cautious member of your team, is in your one-to-one. You want to hand over an important client presentation to Jordan — but last month you had to correct several errors in Jordan’s report, and you never really talked about it. Chat with Jordan below and try to:
- give honest feedback about last month — softened, specific, fair;
- delegate the presentation with real ownership (outcome, authority, support);
- use coaching questions and agree how you will follow up.
Use the phrases from Useful Language — write your replies to Jordan in the chat.
This is your rehearsal: practise the conversation here as many times as you like. You will speak for real in the Final Speaking Assignment at the end of the course.
When you have practised enough and Jordan has given you feedback, click “Complete & continue” to move on. There is no time limit — go a few rounds until it feels natural.
The hardest conversations are the ones that build the strongest teams. Practise here, where mistakes are free. 💪
