ROLEPLAY
Align a Sceptical Colleague
Put the module to work: set a clear direction and win real buy-in.
🎭 Your scenario. You are a manager rolling out a new company vision:
“to become the first choice for small business software.” Your colleague
Riley, a team lead, is doubtful and has heard big promises before. Chat with Riley below and try to:
- state the vision in one clear line;
- reframe it for what Riley’s team actually does;
- be honest about what is uncertain, then ask for buy-in.
Use the phrases from Useful Language — write your replies to Riley in the chat. This is your rehearsal: practise the conversation here as many times as you like. You will speak for real in the Final Speaking Assignment at the end of the course.
When you have practised enough and Riley has given you feedback, click “Complete & continue” to move on. There is no time limit — go a few rounds until it feels natural.
Speaking to a real, slightly awkward audience is where the words finally stick. Do it a little uncomfortably now, and it will feel easy in the meeting. 💪
