Welcome to Fluent at Work 👋
Read this first — it shows how everything works and how to get the most from it.
🎯 Your goal at level B1: participate actively

By the end of this course you’ll be able to take part confidently in the everyday moments of work in English — run and join meetings, write clear emails, make small talk, give simple presentations, negotiate small things, give and receive feedback, and handle calls.

📍 This is level 3 of 8 in the Fluent at Work path (A1 → A2 → B1 → B1+ → B2 → B2+ → C1 → C2). Each level builds on the one before — once you finish here, B1+ takes you from “participating” to “influencing and leading.”

Learning to work confidently in English isn’t about memorising grammar rules — it’s about being able to do real things: take part in a meeting, write a clear email, handle a call, present an idea. This course is built around exactly those situations, one module at a time, so every lesson has a clear purpose you can feel.

📚 How each module works

Every module follows the same simple rhythm, so you always know where you are. You meet the language, you practise it, then you use it:

  • Reading — a real text on the module topic, with key vocabulary.
  • Vocabulary & Useful Language — the words and ready-to-use phrases for that situation.
  • Writing Practice — you write a short work text and an AI coach corrects it sentence by sentence, in seconds. Practice, not a test: no grade, nothing to wait for.
  • Grammar — the structures you need, taught little by little.
  • Podcast — real listening, with a synced transcript and flashcards.
  • Roleplay — you put the language to use in a real-style conversation.
  • 🎙️ Two ways to do your roleplays

    In every roleplay you choose how to practise: Speak it — press Play, allow your microphone and talk out loud, and your partner answers with a real voice — or Write it, a written chat at your own pace. Same scenario, your choice.

    Speaking out loud is the fastest way to get comfortable, so try the voice at least once. You will speak for real in the Final Speaking Assignment at the end of the course, where one of our teachers listens to you.

  • Unit Review — revision notes you can read on your phone or print: the grammar, the key words and the ready-to-use phrases of the module, all in one place.
  • Quizzes — short checks along the way, and a final quiz for the whole module.
🤖 Your AI Tutor — chat & practise (text for now)

It’s the fastest way to actually practise, with zero pressure. With it you can:

  • roleplay real situations — each module includes a guided one;
  • ask anything — a word you don’t know, a grammar doubt, or how to say something more politely;
  • practise and get friendly feedback as you go.

📝 For now, you chat by writing. Open the tutor from the AI Tutor button on the side of the page and simply type your messages. Speaking out loud (voice) is coming soon — for now it’s text chat.

🧠 And it remembers you. As you study, LingoWise keeps track of the words you mark for review (your “weak words”), the mistakes you make when chatting with the tutor, and the questions you get wrong in quizzes (including grammar). It then brings a few of those back in each tutor chat and in your flashcard review, so you practise exactly what you find hard. The more you use it, the more personal it gets.

And it sees the bigger picture. Beyond single mistakes, the course also notices which topics stay difficult for you over time. Your Tutor takes that into account, and in My progress you will find a short note with the one or two topics worth going back to — no scores, just the next useful thing.

🏋️ The Gym — your daily warm-up

Lessons teach you — the Gym keeps you in shape. It’s our training game with four quick modes: timed quiz, matching, sentence building and find-the-mistake (built on typical Italian errors), all tuned to your level. Five minutes a day is enough, and you earn LingoWise Points while you play. You’ll find it anytime in the top menu. Speak English like you mean it!

🎯 Flashcards & memory — how they work

After each podcast you’ll review key words with flashcards. A word only counts as “learned” after you confirm it 3 times — that’s how it moves into long-term memory instead of being forgotten by tomorrow. Tap ✅ I know it or 🔁 Review; the words you find hard come back automatically until they stick (and your AI Tutor can practise them with you too).

📊 Your Progress, Always in View

Once a day — after you log in, or on your first visit that day — a small card pops up in the corner with a quick snapshot: your course completion, and what the AI Tutor has mastered or is still working on. Close it any time; it comes back tomorrow.

Want to check anytime, without waiting for the popup? Open “I miei progressi” from your account menu (top right) — always there, with the full picture: progress by module, tutor sessions, and recent activity.

None of this is graded — it’s there so you always know where you stand.

🌟 This level: B1 — where you’re going

At B1 (intermediate) the goal is to become independent in everyday work English: to handle familiar professional situations on your own, get your meaning across clearly, and recover when you get stuck — even if it isn’t perfect.

By the end of this level, you will be able to:

  • take part in meetings and discussions on familiar work topics — give opinions, agree and disagree politely;
  • handle small talk & networking, phone calls, and everyday work situations;
  • write clear emails, short reports and simple proposals;
  • give a simple presentation and take part in basic negotiation and feedback conversations;
  • understand the main points of clear speech from native and non-native colleagues.

Each module takes one of these situations and builds it step by step.

⏱️ How to study (a few tips)

  • Go in order and use the “Complete & continue” button — it tracks your progress.
  • Don’t aim for perfect. Write, make mistakes, get feedback — that’s how it sticks.
  • Short and regular beats long and rare: even 15–20 minutes a day works.
  • Actually chat with the AI Tutor in every module — it’s where the language becomes yours.

🎓 Earn your B1 certificate

Work through every module and pass the final quizzes. When you complete the whole course, you’ll unlock your official Fluent at Work — Business English (B1) certificate — ready to download, share, and add to your CV or LinkedIn. 🎉

You don’t need to be perfect — just clear and confident.
