Overview & Goals

Interviewing Candidates

Hiring the right person starts long before the contract is signed. It starts with the questions you ask.

In this module you will learn to run a professional job interview in English: opening with confidence, asking behavioural questions that reveal how a candidate really works, probing politely when an answer is too vague, and closing with clear next steps. You will hear how experienced managers choose their interview questions, and you will practise live with an AI candidate who answers — and sometimes surprises you — just like a real one.

By the end of this module you will be able to:

  • open an interview and explain how it will work;
  • ask behavioural questions and follow up when an answer is vague;
  • use indirect questions to sound professional without sounding cold;
  • manage the time and close with clear next steps;
  • write an interview invitation email.

Grammar in this module. Direct & indirect questions (“Why did you leave?”“Could you tell me why you decided to leave?”) and gerunds & infinitives (enjoy working, decided to leave, avoid relying on).

Stuck on a phrase? Ask the AI Tutor at any point in this module — it knows what you are studying.
