The phrases that make a first week feel organised.

Sara: Chen, you have been here two weeks. What was confusing this week?
Chen: Honestly? Everything is fine. Everyone has been very kind.
Sara: I believe you. But what did you have to ask somebody twice?
Chen: The ticketing system, maybe. I asked Marco, and then I asked him again, because I did not understand the first time.
Sara: That is useful. Nobody has actually shown you the ticketing system properly, have they?
Chen: Not properly, no. But I did not want to disturb anyone.
Sara: You are not disturbing anyone, that is what we are here for. Who have you not met yet who you probably should?
Chen: The finance team. And my manager has been travelling since my second day.
Sara: Right. Here is what I will do by Friday. Elena is going to walk you through the ticketing system properly, one hour, in the diary. I will introduce you to finance on Thursday. And I am going to talk to your manager about a proper session next week.
Chen: Thank you. That would help a lot, actually.
Notice how Sara avoids the useless question (is everything fine?) and asks narrow ones instead — and how she closes with concrete actions and a date.
